…not only does the single mother become powerless and rendered insignificant to raising their own sons, but subtly their sons are now entered into the discourse of inheriting some of the demonization their own mothers have faced. In particular, the son becomes positioned as the bastardized product of “bad” mothering as inadequate, deficient, and worse a menace to society left with no hope like his mother.
